This informational comics is intended for children to learn about their rights and allow them to participate in their own protection, particularly in the aspects of 1) Understanding Children’s Rights and Responsibilities, 2) Identifying situations that may feel safe or unsafe, and 3) Understanding child abuse. Making reading materials available in local languages supports better language development. The Guidelines on Mother tongue-based Multi-lingual Education (MTB-MLE) Program Implementation of DepEd (Annex 4, DepEd Order #21 Series 2019) cited Ocampo, et.al. (2006) that “The use of the mother tongue in learning has been found to be the most effective way to bridge learning in all subject areas, including the development of future languages.”
