School-age children face risks of violence

Children are exposed to many forms of violence at home, in school and in the community. This could disrupt their learning as they may lose motivation to attend classes or feel unsafe in school or on their way there.

How does this affect their learning?

These children may perform poorly in school, incur increased absences, or drop out entirely. As a result, their intellectual development suffers and they miss out on chances for a bright and productive future.

How is ChildFund working towards lasting solutions to this alarming problem?

ChildFund Philippines promotes environments where children feel physically, emotionally and psychologically safe. We engage the children themselves, their parents and teachers in various school-based violence prevention activities. We equip children through Self-Protection and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions, we equip children skills to protect themselves and deal with violence in less aggressive manner.
