Why is unemployment a problem among the youth?
Many graduates still do not have the right skills and competencies required by available jobs or self-employment and entrepreneurship. Some youths also lack the social, emotional and life skills essential to thriving in the workplace.
What is the impact to their employability?
If the youth lack these essential skills and competencies, they are inadequately prepared for the job market. It might take them longer to find decent work and become productive after they graduate.
What is ChildFund doing to realize decent, productive employment for the youth?
We study the job market to determine employment and business opportunities, as well as the skills that are most in-demand, to help find the best match for graduates. We encourage students to complete senior high school and technical training courses for better employability. We complement this by developing their soft skills. We work closely with government and private sector partners to provide training, apprenticeship, and job placement or entrepreneurial support to graduates.
