Mental health challenges are becoming more visible among children and young people. Without timely support, these struggles can leave lasting impacts. But when caring adults and peers step in early, they can make a meaningful difference in a child’s journey toward healing and growth.
To help make this happen, we partnered with Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) for a two-day training on Men tal Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Psychological First Aid (PFA). Faculty members, guidance counselors, and student leaders joined us to learn practical ways to spot early signs of distress, offer immediate support, and create a campus environment where every child feels cared for and understood.
During the training, we explored how simple acts—like listening without judgment—can make a big difference for someone who’s struggling. Participants also shared ideas on how to make mental health support more approachable and accessible within their school. These conversations reminded us all how powerful it can be when people come together to create a safe space for others.
What’s happening at JRMSU is more than just a training—it’s part of a bigger effort to build a community of care in schools, families, and neighborhoods. By giving leaders the tools to respond with compassion, we’re helping children find the support they need and a place where they truly belong.
