ChildFund Philippines marked National Children’s Month 2024 with vibrant gatherings across three locations in Zamboanga del Norte. Held on November 17 in Roxas, November 23 in Sindangan, and November 30 at Barra Elementary School in Dipolog City, these celebrations brought together 775 participants, including children, youth, parents, and volunteers from various barangays.
The events featured engaging activities designed to promote awareness of children’s rights, responsibilities, and overall well-being. Children and youth participated in sessions on topics such as Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Social and Emotional Learning, Disaster Risk Reduction, and group dynamics. The celebration also served as a culminating activity for the year, highlighting the importance of creating safe and nurturing spaces for children and youth.
A special moment during the events was the sharing of stories by ChildFund alumni, who reflected on how the programs helped them gain essential skills and build awareness of protecting themselves and others from harm. Their heartfelt testimonies served as an inspiration to the participants and reinforced the value of these initiatives.
Children and youth who attended received tokens such as notebooks, pens, pencils, and crayons. Meals were provided for all participants, ensuring everyone enjoyed two snacks and lunch during the celebration.
Kristine, a child participant from Dipolog City, expressed her joy in being part of the event, “I am grateful for I participated in Children’s Month Celebration in ChildFund. I am happy because I am the new elected president of the children, and I won the first place in the Coloring Contest. Thank you very much, ChildFund Philippines”
The Children’s Month Celebration highlighted the collective efforts of families, communities, and ChildFund Philippines in promoting the well-being and safety of children. It was a joyful reminder of the potential within every child and the importance of coming together to nurture their growth and dreams.
