On November 14, 2024, ChildFund Philippines unveiled its very first local fundraising campaign #OneOfAKindness campaign with a mission to make a lasting impact on the lives of young children in the Philippines. The initiative aims to foster meaningful, long-term relationships built on shared values and kindness, while driving vital support for the country’s children, particularly those aged 0-5, who need it the most.
ChildFund Philippines’ #OneOfAKindness campaign highlights the importance of kindness in addressing pressing challenges in the areas of education, health, and nutrition. Through the campaign, ChildFund is calling on individuals and organizations to demonstrate their commitment to children’s futures by supporting programs that focus on early childhood learning, healthcare, and the safety of young ones in communities across the Philippines.
Why Kindness Matters
A staggering 78% of children aged 3-4 are not attending daycare, and 28% of 5-year-olds are not enrolled in kindergarten, according to the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) in 2023. This alarming gap in early education hampers the potential of many children in the country, highlighting the urgent need for programs that promote early learning and development.
Moreover, the Philippines faces a serious health crisis. With 1 in 3 Filipino children suffering from stunting, the country ranks 5th in East Asia and among the top 10 globally for this condition, as reported by UNICEF in 2020. Stunting severely impacts children’s growth and cognitive development, making the early years of a child’s life a critical period for intervention.
A Village of Support
As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” At ChildFund Philippines, we believe it takes a dedicated community to shape a child’s future — especially during the first few years when 90% of brain growth occurs. The organization’s ongoing programs aim to capitalize on this brief window of opportunity by providing young children with the education, nutrition, and healthcare they need to thrive.
The #OneOfAKindness campaign offers the public a chance to become part of this “village” by providing monthly support to sustain ChildFund Philippines’ key initiatives. These include:
- Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP): A program that promotes early childhood learning through guided play, enhancing cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Parent and Caregiver Training: Educational sessions designed to equip parents and caregivers with essential knowledge on health, nutrition, early childhood stimulation, and safety.
- Strengthening Community Healthcare: Initiatives to improve healthcare systems and access, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas, ensuring that families, particularly, mothers and children receive the medical care they need.
For as little as PHP 600, supporters can donate monthly to help sustain these vital efforts. Donors can choose to contribute a one-time or recurring donation, making it easier for individuals to support children’s development and join the movement for kindness.
