Exemplifying Social and Emotional Learning in Learner’s Environs and Teacher’s pedagogy (ExSELLEnT)

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) helps students understand themselves, relate well with others, and make responsible choices. A contextualized SEL framework matters because it reflects Filipino values, culture, and everyday life, making learning more meaningful and relatable. Without this local context, SEL programs can feel disconnected and less effective. This framework ensures that SEL truly supports Filipino learners in ways that resonate with their real-world experiences.

Children and Youth-Led Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CYDRM)

The Philippines is located along the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire and the typhoon belt. This makes it prone to natural hazards such as typhoons, floods, storm surges, landslides, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. ChildFund Philippines works with all relevant stakeholders (children and youth, their families, communities, and government) on its Children and Youth-Led Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CYDRM) initiatives to make children and youth resilient from the impacts of climate change and protected from disaster and protection risks during emergencies. These inclusive community-based initiatives aim to create and sustain a healthy and safe environment for them, their families, and communities.

Education for Protection and Well-being (EPW)

Children are exposed to many forms of violence at home, in school, in the community, and online. EPW engages school-aged children, their parents or caregivers, and their educators in various school-based violence prevention procedures and activities aimed at improving children’s social-emotional learning and self-protection skills to prevent, mitigate, and respond to violence against them.
